My cress

We are learning about how plants grow and seed sprouts.
We grew cress and sprouted broad beans in class. We watched how water moves thought plants by putting celery in colourded water.

this is how cress changed over time.

Kotahitanga

When we were making our film we were discussing about who would do what. So I did the filming. We filmed some people playing hangman, then we filmed two people painting an orange. After that we filmed three girls drinking milk but did not fold the cartons. We did some filming of boys putting blocks together and some girls eating mandarins. We filmed some boys on the field with the rugby balls, passing the balls to each other. Then the hangman people pulled the white board out of the classroom. Two people were carrying a letter K out to the field. Back with the milk, we made a letter P out of wood and glued the milk cartons onto it. With the blocks we made a letter U. At the library, there were people reading newspapers which turned into a letter A. Soon everyone was on the field and those letters made the word Ruapotaka. Everyone jumped up and shouted at the end!

My Snagit with Thanush

Thanush (from Room 9) and I made a Snagit screencast so we can share which movie we liked at the Film Festival.  It was tricky making the screencast but it was fun working with Thanush to make the Snagit and learning new things with him.

Trip to the film festival

I liked going to the Film Festival. I had lots of fun and my favourite movies were Manaiakalani Man and Room Nine's film called The Journey!

Going to New York

This is one of the first Digital Learning Objects that we created and it was quite tricky.  I chose somewhere in the world I would like to visit one day.  Then I found an image of it on Google images.  Next, I cut around a photograph of my head using Pixlr so I could put myself in that place. Maybe I will travel there in the future in real life.

ANZAC soldiers landing at Gallipoli

On 25th April 2015, it was the 100th anniversary of ANZAC soldiers landing at Gallipoli.  We learnt lots of things about life and war for the ANZAC soldiers when we visited Auckland Museum in April.  We created poppies, we have written poems and letters about ANZAC and World War 1.

I have chosen my ANZAC Biscuit poster to share  because  I have learnt to describe what a biscuit tastes like.

I would like to visit New York

Sep 2, 2015 12:00:35 PM.jpg
Talofa lava, my name is Tyron. I am 9 years old and I am a year six student. My culture is Maori. My teacher's name is Mrs Buchanan.

My favourite subject at school is doing PE. My favourite sports are softball and soccer. I am also enjoying learning on the Chromebook. My top tip is ctrl+tab. It takes you to the next tab.

I have 3 brothers and 1 sister. The best thing I like to do is play Studyladder.  My favourite food is butter chicken on rice and my favourite fruit is pineapple. One day I would like to visit New York.
